Tomorrow marks the 10 year anniversary of the first time we celebrated Lupine and Bluebell’s birthday together. Let me set the scene.
We’re all awkward freshman in college living in the dorms. After meeting through a few mutual friends we have just recently experienced our first major bonding experience: Sharing naked stories over half cooked funfetti cake made in Peony’s toaster oven. We take that energy and funnel it into our first grand event. A joint Birthday party for Lupine and Bluebell, who share the same birthday and a few other eerily similar traits (matching cysts?!). We decide they are clearly twins. And what better way to celebrate then making more funfetti? This time we cook it all the way and use a full size oven. To top it off we have the newest, hottest Nintendo Wii games to play.
I look back at those adorable, dorky, naive 19 year olds and it warms my heart. We had no idea where life would take us, or how that blossoming friendship would grow and become one that would last a decade and beyond. I’m so grateful that these two tall, tenacious blondes came into the lives of two quirky small town girls like Peony and I. My life has never been the same, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. So happy Birthday. Here’s to many more shared together!
